Zongyi Solar is a utility-scale solar farm developer and investment company. The New Jersey solar market is thriving due to aggressive RPS goals put in place to meet 22.5% of the state’s electricity needs from renewable sources by 2020. We recognize the opportunity to develop unused land for renewable energy purposes while maintaining open space and allowing the virtually undisturbed land to recharge itself from previous uses. This not only preserves the land for the lifetime of the panels of 25 years or more, but also helps stimulate the local economy at a time when unemployment is at its highest with more jobs than ever relocating outside of the state.
Each MW of solar that Zongyi develops as a utility-scale solar farm will bring an approximate $7,000 contribution towards the local township’s fiscal impact per year and employ a minimum of 15-30 jobs1 during construction for every megawatt produced and will support at least 3 jobs for the annual operations of solar energy (compare to 1.7 net jobs for natural gas powered electricity per MW produced).2
To put this in perspective, a 10 MW solar farm will employ 150-300 jobs during construction with another 30 jobs created for the lifetime of the project, all while generating a $70,000 annual contribution to the local town. With Zongyi’s assertive goals of developing 100 MW of clean, renewable energy, we anticipate bringing a minimum of 1,500-3,000 jobs to our local communities in the next 2-3 years, in addition to buying or leasing land from owners that need to sell in a declining real estate market or from farmers who are no longer in a position to farm their land. We are fortunate to be in the alternative energy market at a time that enables us to benefit the greater good for the environment, the people and the economy.
